Neil Hannan
Neil Hannan’s name is peppered through New Zealand’s Rock, R’n’B, Country and Jazz music history. Like every good rhythm section, his solid reputation and impeccable musical prowess has seen his inimitable presence in bands, orchestras, backing bands, jazz ensembles and as a music producer for more than 50 years.
His depth of experience comes from career spent playing bars, cafes, lounges, town halls, festivals and stadiums in NZ, as well as touring in Australia, Asia and the Pacific, the UK and the USA, honing his craft, and ‘paying his dues’ on every shape and size stage.
Hannan has been a member of many of New Zealand’s foremost bands of their times including; Red Mole, The Country Flyers, Coup D’Etat, Hello Sailor and the Legionnaires.
As one of New Zealand’s hardest working backing and studio musicians he has toured and performed with Gerry and the Pacemakers, Randy Crawford, Sir John Rowles, Renee Geyer, The Scots Dragoon Guards, Monica Mancini, The Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, Greg Bissonette, Roger Whitaker, Kenny Dale, The Rattlers, Julian Clarry, Malvina Major, Midge Marsden, the Rodger Fox Big Band, Hammond Gamble, and many more.
His latest album ‘saloon rips’ unashamedly explores a few bass frequencies - probably best played loud - it’s not really mixed for too much treble.
